Frequently asked questions

What is your policy regarding no-shows, cancellations, and rescheduling?

  • Cancelling or rescheduling over 24 hours before appointment time: No fee.

  • Cancelling or rescheduling within 24 hours of appointment start time: You will be charged for the full session as though it had occurred.

  • No show: This is when you do not show up to your appointment and do not let me know before the appointment starts at all. You will be charged for the full session.

When can I expect a response to my message?

You can expect a response within 2 business days. I recommend calling for medication refills a week in advance in case I need to contact your pharmacy multiple times.

How do I pay for my appointment?

Via credit card, through your patient portal. I will cover the credit card fees. When you fill out your new patient paperwork, you will complete a credit card authorization form. I will not see your credit card number; it is securely stored in the medical record. You will be automatically charged the evening after our appointment.

What kind of technology will I need for my appointment?

Here is a link to the minimum system requirements for SimplePractice, the video program that I use for virtual appointments. For in-person appointments, no special technology is needed.

How long will it take for me to get an appointment?

You can see my full availability here. I do not have a waitlist at this time.

What do I need to do before my first appointment?

  1. Request to be a patient. Contact me however you prefer: call or text (949) 773-9207, email amy@amybloodpsychiatry.com, or request a specific time directly through my patient portal.

  2. Free introductory call. I will speak with you on the phone for about 15 minutes to answer any questions you have, assess whether I’ll be able to help you, and discuss next steps.

  3. Fill out your new patient packet and book your appointment (if you haven’t already). I will send the paperwork to you via the patient portal. You can also book, reschedule, and cancel there. Please note that cancellations within 24 hours of the appointment time are charged in full.

  4. For virtual appointments: Make plans to find somewhere private for your appointment. Choose somewhere comfortable where you can speak freely and won’t be distracted. Virtual appointments are held over video via SimplePractice. The specific URL will be sent to you via text and email appointment reminders and is also accessible in your patient portal. If you have trouble finding it, contact me so that I can help you.
